16/2 Range of Coatings

The kal-Gard 16/2 range of coatings was originally developed for the defence industry to impart excellent corrosion resistance to military equipment and hardware. As such it offers an excellent solution to corrosion  related problems in many industrial areas.
The 16/2 range are thin film coatings affording excellent corrosion barrier properties although there are also metal-filled grades which act as sacrificial corrosion preventers.
Although most grades are spray applied, some are also suitable for dip-spin and drain applications as well.
For example the "dip-coating"(KG 401) was formulated specifically for dip application as this technique enables full penetration into welded seams and laminations, this can be used as avery effective corrosion resistant primer prior to poeder coating. Such systems are used to give over 1000 hours (ASTM B 117) salt spray resistance to outdoor installations when epoxy coated.
